Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Are you recording from home?

Inspired to go live from your morning walk?

Is it time to shoot a video, record a podcast, or be interviewed, but you don’t feel set up and ready to go?

I’ve spent years recording videos, recording podcasts, going live from all kinds of funky places, and I’ve acquired some quick and dirty, as well as some nice and fancy tools to make me look better and sound better on video and audio.

If you want to keep people’s attention a bit longer it’s important to have a steady camera, good lighting and decent sound quality.

Here are some tools to help…(Some of these are affiliate links, I get a kickback but you still pay the same cheap price!!)

Things I use from “home” (Or the van):

  1. Yeti Microphone
  2. Circle light on a tripod
  3. Computer stand (to lift my laptop and get a better angle on my face)

Outside on the move:

  1. DJI Osmo Gimbal
  2. Small circle light
  3. Windshield Phone Mount
  4. AirPods

Alternatives:

  1. Clamp light (I got one from home depot for $10)
  2. Gorrillapod mini tripod
  3. Stack of textbooks or a shoebox to set your laptop on, DIY 🙂

You can record from anywhere in the world, but if you have a shaky camera, or you don’t sound good, people won’t watch or listen as long.

As far as recording platforms go…

I generally open up a zoom room by myself and hit record as my computer already has a good angle on my face sitting at my desk.

I also will go live on Facebook and download the recorded video to repost on youtube.

There is a platform called “Restream” if you want to hit both of those platforms live at once.

For audio only, I use the free Garageband software on my Mac, but you can find other free audio recordings softwares easily, like Audacity to download online and use on your computer.

These tools help me make pretty darn good recordings from wherever I am.

I hope they help you too!
