Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

These are crazy times, and I can’t help but see the opportunity and possibility inherently intertwined with all of us ‘staying home’ right now.

You may be watching a lot of news.

You may be seeing pictures of empty shelves and counting your toilet paper rolls.

You may even be struggling financially and wondering when this will end and if you’ll be in a dark place after all the chips have fallen.

I’m writing today to do two things:

First, to encourage you to make the most of this stagnant societal energy and bloom from it.

Second, to remind you that brilliant, magical, unforeseen beauty can be born in times like this.

During the Black Plague in 1665, Isaac Newton was kept home from Cambridge University as the school had closed. During this time he developed what’s now known as Calculus and some believe that the apple falling from the tree, and inspiring his Theory of Gravity was also during this time.

The invitation here is to cultivate something new while you have a moment to yourself.

I’m personally excited that so many are kept home to be with themselves right now.

Many of us have been craving a shift in consciousness, have been watching and working for it.

If even a small fraction of those quarantined right now, put some energy into looking at their lives, healing their inner-worlds, and focusing on new creative projects and ideas… I think the whole world will return from this pandemic with new life, new inspiration, innovation, and potent potential.

I travel the world full-time and thus spend quite a lot of time alone with myself.

Here are my tips on taking care of you and making the most of being Quarantined:

  1. Connect

If you are feeling alone or lonely, reach out. We live in an amazing time for this kind of crazy to spread across the globe. There is social media, sure, and there is also Facetime, Zoom, Skype, and a simple phone call.

Check-in on your people. Reach out. Catch up. Laugh. Tell stories. Ask questions. See what’s happening and tighten your bonds with those you love. A 10-minute call can rekindle bonds you may have thought were lost in time.

  1. Get outside or at least move your body

Some of you are in locked-down cities. You can put on some National Geographic or Planet Earth, in the background, or hopefully you have some houseplants you can hang with.

For those of you who can. Take a walk outside. I was fortunate to come back to Oregon before this all went down and have been loving the cherry trees blooming and the saturated greens that this countryside unleashes at this time of year.

Nature heals. Give it some of your attention if you can.

If nothing else, move your body.

  1. Look within.

Take this opportunity to look at your life. How’s it going?

Are you living in alignment with your values?

Do you feel excited and charged about the way you spend your time day to day?

Is there something more that’s asking to come through you?

It’s easy to fall into patterns right now of scrolling, or Netflix-ing, or biding your time.

What if this home-stay has been gifted to you for a reason?

Pick up that instrument, paintbrush, or pen and let your creativity back into your life.

Is it time to start your side-hustle?

Is it time to learn to cook that thing?

Is it time to heal some trauma that you’ve been stuffing down into the dark?

Even if it seems like it, you are not alone.

This is an opportunity, en masse, for us to change the trajectory of our lives for the better. To put new habits in place. To shed light on the shadows and step forward into more.

Reach out, please.

Meditate. Write/journal. Ask big questions. Be with yourself.

Take care of you.

And do/be what you’re being called to do/be.

“Don’t ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive, and go do that, because what the world needs is people who have come alive.” -Howard Thurman

Loving you from here,

P.S. Contributing to people in need right now is an amazing way to boost your energy. Who can you pre-buy a session with, or buy gift-cards from. Restaurants, body-workers, and others are struggling to get buy. Can you help? Have you asked for what you need support with? Here’s a facebook group dedicated to asking and giving: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1061901284171597/
